The Berg mineral baths are a cult facility with 163 years of history. Many challenges stood behind the renovation. Apart from technical equipment, the project focused primarily on the task of preserving the character of the 1950s-era building. In this video, Matthias Burkart of 4a Architekten reports on the constructive, technical and architectural renovation of Stuttgart’s oldest bathing complex.
Since their establishment in Stuttgart in 1990, 4a Architekten have been designing according to the guiding principle of “understanding architecture as living space and creating functional, lasting architecture of high quality in terms of atmosphere”. Along with the design and renovation of sports and leisure structures, the studio concentrates on hotels, cultural and educational institutions as well as private residences.
