Fusion: Wooden Knives by Andrea Ponti.

Beautiful knives made from solid wood, each handcrafted in Kyoto, raises interesting questions both cultural and practical. The range is known as Fusion, a reference to the cultural influences exerted on the Italian designer, Andrea Ponti, whilst working in Japan.

The idea of combining the industrial design techniques learnt in Milan, with Japanese craftsmanship, has created pieces closer to art in their concept and purity. Each knife is made by the craftsman / artist Issei Hanaoka. He uses ebony and white maple.

The designer claims that being crafted from a single piece of wood, the knives are hygienic in use and easy to clean and care for. The finely honed edge makes them extremely sharp and easy to sharpen.
