Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi is completed: by DBI Design

cluster of towers

There is no let -up in the perception that taller is better, at least in some quarters. Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi by DBI Design has recently been completed and is ranked as the 50th tallest building in the world at 305.3m. It is only the 12th tallest building in the United Arab Emirates.

The attractions of building tall to make a statement are obvious, but tall buildings seldom look good in isolation, the Eifel Tower being an obvious exception. Etihad Towers solves that by its massing as a cluster of towers in one composition. Perhaps not quite as heroic as the construction of Shanghai's Pudong district, creating an instant financial centre, but a brave attempt nonetheless. Get facts and figures on the worlds tallest buildings from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
