Turning one into two: The Frankfurter Bench

The designers at Möbelwesen call their make-over the Frankfurter Bench, which they arrived at by setting two Frankfurter Chairs face to face, elongating the seats and joining them together. The result is not just a seating object but a multi-functional piece of furniture that can also do good service as a sideboard, valet stand or cloakroom bench.

The Frankfurter Bench is to be produced by – what choice could be better? – the furniture maker Stoelker, which has also made the prototype. Initial financing for the project is currently being sought at the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. The prototype comes in oiled beech; beech in untreated or varnished form, painted matte black or opaque white are stated as further variants. If the project comes off, the bench will also be available in other variants and types of wood.
