Trompe-l’œil: Street Art by Pejac in Istanbul

Streetart in Istanbul by Pejac

All photos: Julian Santiago

Spanish street artist Pejac has mastered the art of illusion. In fact, he has created his three most recent works in Uskudar, the Asian part of Istanbul.

The three works are called Lock, Poster and Shutters, for this is what they depict. Pejac worked with acrylics, pencil and sandpaper to produce these amazing optical illusions, which appear to be three-dimensional.

In an interview with Société Perrier, Pejac commented: “Texture, colour and the size of the wall are things that simply don’t interest me. Rather, I’m interested in the urban context. […] For some projects, I work with distortion, with the clear intention of playing with people’s perceptions of reality.”

More of Pejac’s works can be seen on Instagram.
