Escola 42 São Paulo, Superlimão

Space Learning: Escola 42 São Paulo by Superlimão

Escola 42 São Paulo, which was designed by Superlimão, is a tuition-free educational institution specialized in computer programming where students can organize their curricula unencumbered by professors, books or diplomas. Cooperative teaching methods and mutual evaluations in group activities form the core of this French school, which opened in the Vila Madalena district in 2019.

In order to meet the school’s technical requirements, Superlimão decided in favour of a four-part spatial program. The central access core is home to a cafeteria and IT areas, while the remaining rooms are available for meetings, personnel, programming and events. Aficionados of film history will recognize references to the cult movie The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy; the entire space was inspired by the architecture of the high-tech universe featured in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The ceiling is clad with mineralized wood and acoustic panels. Furniture on casters makes it easy to repurpose the rooms as needed. A colour palette developed expressly for this project underscores the relaxed learning atmosphere.
