Signature Architecture: Signature Theatre building By Frank Gehry, New York.

Griffin theatre

This tantalising glimpse of the Frank Gehry designed Signature Theatre building in New York, suggests it will be an exciting addition to the city's architectural scene. More importantly for theatre lovers, the building will provide the backdrop for the expansion of The Signature Theatre Company, allowing it to better explore its avant-guard attitudes and activities in the hope of making an even bigger cultural impression on the city.

The building is just completed. It provides three unique theatre spaces, two studios, an exciting and a dynamic lobby and cafe space that will help to lubricate proceedings. On top of this is, and presumably providing a form of fiscal lubrication for the project, is some 70,000 square feet of office space.

Get a closer look of the spaces as photographed by James Ewing in the OTTO archive.
