Conifera, COS x Mamou-Mani

Salone del Mobile 2019: Conifera by COS x Mamou-Mani

This year the fashion house COS continued its collaboration with the art and architectural world at the Salone del Mobile with presentation of the 3D-printed installation "Conifera" in partnership with the French architect Arthur Mamou-Mani and his studio.

The architectural intervention consists of a sculptural latticework made up of 700 interlocked wood and bioplastic modules ("bio bricks") in the form of truncated pyramids that trace a path from the central courtyard of Palazzo Isimbardi to its garden area. "Conifera" changes in appearance along this course, with the initial warm hues of wood being replaced by a translucent white on approaching the garden.

As the architect states, the composition is a deeply poetic dialogue between technology and handicraft, nature and man, between the monumentality of the Palazzo and the delicate-looking latticework.  "Conifera" unites parametric design with sustainable materials and demonstrates the possibilities that can be achieved by combining renewable raw materials with modern design technology.
