Parametric Design: Anker-Jordan Residence by Scalar

The parametrically designed Anker-Jordan Residence offers sufficient space for a multi-generation family. The house on the shore of Ossipee Lake in New Hampshire comprises two connected prisms. This complex shape is a spatial response to many of the client’s wishes. Moreover, the design by Scalar Architecture reacts to the lush vegetation surrounding the house, the strong west wind that blows in the summertime and the northwest winds that prevail in winter months.

For the three generations of the family, Scalar have developed a complicated sequence of spaces which includes both communal and private areas. The plan for the house, which was created using a generative design program, depicts a building shape that maximizes its interior volume.

Several windows have been integrated into the folded roof that provides shelter from the powerful winds. The complex spatial landscape inside the house offers a platform for social interaction and enough space for all members of the family.
