Glass bowls Moon; Jonathan Radetz, Jono Concepts

Lunar-inspired: Moon by Jonathan Radetz

A very special effect distinguishes the Moon bowls by multidisciplinary designer Jonathan Radetz (Jono Concepts), which were unveiled last week at the Passagen Interior Design Week during Cologne's IMM international furniture show.

The craft of glass blowing is a traditional technique in glass production that is still very common. As the hand-crafted glass Moon bowls are blown individually, the finished product depends on the proficiency of the glass blower master. The production process also results in an uneven surface, meaning that when light falls through the glass, it produces wonderful reflections reminiscent of the surface of the moon. The various elements used in the laborious shaping process are part of the final product, and include the moulds in European walnut or oak that are used to shape the lower part of the bowls. Along with the Moon series, Jonathan Radetz showcased further new projects created as part of the ISTANBUL'DAN collective, a think tank involving several designers.
