Lavish landscapes: Claude Cormier: Selected works.

Blue stick garden

Claude Cormier is a Canadian landscape architect based in Montreal. The practice has developed an international reputation with its bold landscape schemes that have an ability to transform an area, square or street into a place where people are the focus. Here I have selected a number of his projects going back around a decade that illustrate the practice's approach to design, and their ability to surprise and even thrill.

In his own words his work celebrates 'manmade nature'. The practice is concerned with the specific qualities of each site, but is not averse to shaking its audience's sensibilities with irreverent design that forces people to re-evaluate their surroundings as well as their relationship within them. 'Our work may be artificial, it’s also anything but fake.'

Genuine creativity would be my summary!
