Floating tables: Designed by Stelarbloom for TRAPA

The designer couple Stelarbloom has designed its first line of furniture for the Austrian natural wood manufacturer TRAPA. The couple – Marcus and Barbara Füreder – are better known under their stage names Parov Stelar and Lilja Bloom and their work as Stelarbloom includes design commissions for Lady Gaga.

The collection by the name of Voltaire consists of a dining table and side tables produced out of indigenous solid natural wood.  All the items have one special feature in common: a gap between the top and base into which lighting is ingeniously concealed. This gives the top a disembodied look, making it seem to float– completely in line with a modernist architecture approach that sought to overcome the laws of physics.  The indirect light can be dimmed using a remote control or an app and to prevent power cables from destroying the illusion is powered by battery.
