DomoLab by Encore Heureux Architects

Interior shot

If you want to know about glass, or just need a few samples, and are in Aubervilliers you have a chance to visit the future or at least DomoLab by Encore Heureux Architects. They have created the physical manifestation of what non scientists think all laboratories look like, and inserted it into a barn with surgical precision and panache. Scientists entering this building might be shocked at how they are perceived in the popular perception.

The pure white volumes borrow from the Modernist lexicon to suggest 'the future'. Appropriate, the architects suggest, for a building that will show products that have yet to be invented. Other areas at the end of the barn-like space are coloured red to add variation and to focus attention on the white areas where the entrance, atrium and exhibition area is located.

It is telling I believe, that pure white volumes are still considered architectural signs for the concept of progress. Perhaps the red parts hint at what might have been had the Modern Masters seen the future in post apocalyptic terms!
