An Expedition to the Realm of Excess: Objets Nomades by Louis Vuitton at the Salone del Mobile in Milan

This collection, which continues the company tradition of intricately designed travel items, was created in 2012. Since then, a few world-famous designers such as atelier Oï, Maarten Baas, Nendo and Patricia Urquiola have taken on the design of beautiful things inspired by the topic of travel. In 2017, two more designers joined the group: India Mahdavi and Tokujin Yoshioka. Altogether 25 Objets Nomades, from a hammock to a lounge chair, all produced as limited editions, are currently available for purchase.

Each of the objects is an expression of a fine feeling for exclusive materials, carefully balanced proportions and precise handiwork: naturally, high-quality leather predominates in the choice of materials. The items are not necessarily the most practical; rather, they evoke a longing for times past, when travel was reserved for an exclusive few and associated with the desire for adventure and discovery.
