Holiday Home on Gotland
The present house on the island of Gotland, designed for the architect’s own use, was to have a simple form of construction so that he could undertake much of the building work himself. Set on an untouched site, the new structure has a simple pitched roof and a few carefully positioned openings in the outer skin. The interior was conceived as an all- purpose space with a symmetrical layout. A central kitchen strip divides the living from the dining area. Situated diagonally opposite each other at the ends of the house are two small timber cubes that contain bedrooms – which can be divided off by curtains – shelving and cupboards. Above the cubes are spaces that may be used by children for playing or to accommodate additional beds.
