A Bookshelf as Living Room: Public Library by Dietrich Untertrifaller

The storey-high glass façade of the public library by Dietrich Untertrifaller in Dornbirn is shrouded by a curtain layer containing 8,000 ceramic batons that symbolise books. Along with an open-access library, a first-rate digital media centre awaits young and older users inside.

Axel Springer Campus by OMA: Trendsetter or Anachronism?

According to a famous quote from Henri Nannen, journalism is chatting in the corridor. To enable reporters at the new news headquarters of the Axel Springer corporation to chat and exchange ideas even more, OMA simply omitted the walls: the entire building becomes a corridor. In the age of covid-19, this is problematic and had led to questions whether this form of open office is obsolete, or whether it can ensure the survival of companies in these very times.
