All under one roof: Cemetery chapel by David Chipperfield Architects
Inagawa lies about 40 km north of Osaka, amid the Hokusetsu Mountains. The Boenfukyukai Foundation commissioned David Chipperfield Architects to build a chapel and visitors’ centre for the local cemetery. The structure was to welcome people of all religions and cultural backgrounds. The result is a monolithic edifice whose spaces are arranged around an inner courtyard.
