A Building for the Whole City: Amorepacific Headquarters in Seoul

Integration instead of exclusion, openness to the city instead of a dominating demeanour: with their new headquarters for the cosmetics company Amorepacific, David Chipperfield Architects is breaking new ground in skyscraper construction. Christoph Felger, a partner with David Chipperfield, elucidates the background to this project in an interview with DETAIL.

All under one roof: Cemetery chapel by David Chipperfield Architects

Inagawa lies about 40 km north of Osaka, amid the Hokusetsu Mountains. The Boenfukyukai Foundation commissioned David Chipperfield Architects to build a chapel and visitors’ centre for the local cemetery. The structure was to welcome people of all religions and cultural backgrounds. The result is a monolithic edifice whose spaces are arranged around an inner courtyard.

Colour of the red clay: Zhejiang Natural History Museum by David Chipperfield Architects

David Chipperfield Architects have designed the second building of the Zhejiang Natural History Museum in Anji with ochre-coloured pavilions on the slope of an extensive park landscape.
