Our Favourites: Three Exciting Projects in France by Dietmar Feichtinger Architectes

A pedestrian bridge in Angers, which is in France, a social housing project in Paris and a mirrored swimming pool conversion near Strasbourg set striking architectural accents.

The Bridge as Pathway and Place: Passerelle at Angers-Saint-Laud

At the railway station in Angers-Saint-Laud, Dietmar Feichtinger Architects are building a new bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. It will make a broad bow over the track lanes, which are altogether 70 m wide, and lead from there into the centre of town. Striking frames of glulam trusses carry the canopy and lighting, direct the angle of view and transform the bridge into a real landmark.

Flexible Sun Protection: Social Housing in Paris

Dietmar Feichtinger Architects are realising a new building with an eye-catching façade in Rue Castagnary. The metal lamella sunshade elements conceal ten residential units as well as commercial space on the ground floor.

Mirror of the Surroundings: Swimming Pool Conversion by Feichtinger Architectes

Built back in 1965 and completely renovated and redesigned since summer 2014, the swimming pool in Strasbourg once again shines in fresh splendour with its new stainless steel and glass façade. A new entrance and the redistribution of some functional units optimise its usability. 400 seats in the stands offer a clear view of water sports enthusiasts, but an additional pool also allows non-swimmers to get their money's worth.
