Housing Development in Munich
This residential and office development is articulated into two sections: a block oriented to the street and containing one- and two-room flats; and a garden tract to the rear with three-room flats. The two parts are linked by a glazed staircase. The maisonettes on the fourth floor and in the roof storey have roof gardens on two faces. The cross-wall construc-tion system is clearly legible on the street face with its sliding timber louvre elements, semi-transparent balconies and perforated sheet metal balustrades. The perforated balustrades serve to filter the sunlight and provide a visual screen for the rooms beyond with their large areas of glazing. Contrasted with this are the courtyard and entrance façades with rectangular punched openings.
