Wooden Show House with Clay Interior Walls

The house has been built by timber construction and carpentry company 8Haus, headed by Egon Frick, which realises timber houses with a patented wall system. Instead of the massive use of wood, the concept envisages reducing its use to only the statically-necessary proportion. To this end, the interior is supplemented with Lemix clay panels from Hart Keramik, which comply with the strict regulations of DIN 18 948. Here the newly-developed Lemix ballast panel was used on the wooden ceilings. At 1950 kg/m3 it adds the necessary weight to the ceiling and is suitable for ceiling fillings and ceiling and roof supports. The high bulk density of the panel creates high surface loads even with narrow thicknesses. In addition to the positive sound and heat insulation properties, the two materials also complement each other in other ways: Clay has a very low equilibrium moisture content of just 0.4 to 0.6 percent by weight. As a result, when wood is surrounded by clay, it is dehumidified and kept dry, which counteracts fungi, mould and pests.
