Project descriptionThe only outward sign of the conversion of this old house in western Spain are the dark red soffits. Yet as part of the refurbishment, an atrium with a birch tree was inserted asymmetrically at the heart of the building, and all the old timber beams have been replaced with a steel structure spanned between the walls.
A 40 cm jump in floor level accommodates the different window heights on the street and garden faces. This is taken up by a metal grating that is used as bench seating. White walls and white painted steel are graphically paired with the red ceramic ceiling elements.
