Novawest have commissioned BIG to design this 420ft tall observation tower in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The tower is intended to provide an iconic architecture for the city.
The structure is designed as a concrete core with an open air spiral at the top. In form, the building resembles a metaphorical pin, according to the architects, and will help put the city on the map.

The Yongsan Business District in Seoul has no intention of being eclipsed by any other Asian CBD. Perhaps it is the fear of eclipse itself that is driving the procurement of some impressive landmark buildings in the city. I featured BIG’s design for a residential complex a couple of weeks ago, today, it is the turn for a closer look at the evocatively named Dancing Dragons twin towers, designed by the Chicago based outfit Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. There is no let -up in the perception that taller is better, at least in some quarters. Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi by DBI Design has recently been completed and is ranked as the 50th tallest building in the world at 305.3m. It is only the 12th tallest building in the United Arab Emirates. Read more
