Jungle books: Nursery in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, by Hondelatte Laporte Architectes.

Seeing this building recalled the work of the celebrated artist and sculpture David Mach. But surprisingly when I learned it was a nursery school in Boulogne-Billancourt, beautifully designed by Hondelatte Laporte Architectes, my immediate enthusiasm transformed into a more contemplative mood. Living with pigs in your home is not something most people would usually aspire to. But Austrian based designer Tom Strala has other ideas. He has conceived this piece, as a fun object that gives home owners a chance to own a little sculpture.

Sunny imposition: Solar Loop for New York by Paolo Venturella & MenoPiu Architects.

Solar Loop was a sculptural competition entry for the Land Art Generator Initiative in Freshkills Park, New York City and was designed by Paolo Venturella & MenoPiu Architects.

Its form is generated from the sun path analysis, but in some ways what is more interesting is its approach to scale. In concept at least, it does not need exact dimensions as such, but can be regarded at a number of scales.
