Mexican Photographer Victor Vargas Villafuerte creates images that are disturbing at one level, yet absolutely compelling at another.

There seems to be an element of schadenfreude in staring closely at human bodies that are so terribly distorted, the result perhaps of some hideous chemical or nuclear – induced birth defect. But after that initial arresting reaction, there is enormous wit and creativity to be found in the images.

Forest Marshmallow Laser feast; by Studio Marshmallow Laser.

It was an interactive laser installation commissioned for the STRP Biennale in Eindhoven. Covering an area of 450 square metres it involved 150 musical trees created from green laser light and rods! Designed by Studio Marshmallow Laser, it brought out the inner child in everybody that experienced it.

Caen masterplan: Competition win for MVRDV.

The transformation of Presqu’ile de Caen moved a step closer with the announcement that MVRDV will be the chosen masterplanners. Their vision saw gardens from old factories, and an intensification of the urban area to create an attractive city quarter. There will also be a better connection to the sea. Read more
